Early Edition: Phillip Noyce Turns 'Hunter Killer'; Blake Lively Becomes a 'Hick' Grifter

Phillip Noyce is no stranger to action-adventure-thrillers, having directed a pair of Jack Ryan spy thrillers ('Clear and Present Danger' and 'Patriot Games') as well as 'The Quiet American' and 'Salt.' Now he's continuing his skein with the international action-thriller 'Hunter Killer' for Relativity Media. According to a report at The Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on the upcoming book 'Firing Point' by Cdr. USN Ret. George Wallace and Don Keith and tells the story of an untested American submarine captain who teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rogue general. The film will begin shooting later this year.

Blake Lively has just signed on to take a lead role in the coming-of-age drama/comedy 'Hick' for independent film director Derick Martini (one half of the Martini brothers). The story, an adaptation of a novel by Andrea Portes, concerns a 13-year-old girl from Nebraska, played by Chloe Moretz, who runs away to Las Vegas and finds more than she bargained for in Sin City. Lively will play a grifter who Moretz meets on the road. Also in the cast is Juliette Lewis and British actor Eddie Redmayne (who stars in the upcoming 'My Week With Marilyn'). [The Wrap]
