Just yesterday we were reporting that Julie Taymor -- director of the now-infamous Broadway musical 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' -- was in negotiations to either work with a new creative team and begin re-tooling the production, or leave the show entirely.
And now it looks like she's gone with the latter choice. NY1 is reporting that Taymor has left the production, and producers have already begun to look for a new director to steer the ship. No official announcement has been made, and no word has been given if she quit or was fired; most likely we'll get some spin-heavy P.R. that it was a "mutual decision." Taymor, a director who at one time was able to successfully go back and forth between film and theater, has taken a major hit to her critical standing, and it remains to be seen if she'll ever regain her lofty prior status either critically or with audiences.
