Angelina Jolie?s children have had a very busy week. On Monday, the actress took Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 3, to a playdate with Gwen Stefani?s son Kingston, 5. (Based on the photos, it appears that the troop got into their mommies? makeup bags during their session!) Then, on Tuesday, Angelina took her oldest girls to a small salon in London to get their ears pierced. According to the U.K.'s The Sun, which first reported the story, Zahara picked out a pair of 18-karat-gold studs, but after Shiloh watched her big sister go through the process ? apparently, she burst into tears and compared the feeling of the piercing gun to being stapled ? the tomboyish 5-year-old backed out and left with both of her ears intact.
Both of the activities were, on the face of it, quite normal: Yes, Shiloh and Zahara are a bit on the young side, but it?s far from unheard of for girls their age to be getting their ears pierced. However, the confluence of press-friendly outings does seem a bit contrived. Is there any chance that Angelina got sick of seeing so much news last week about her partner Brad Pitt?s negative comments on his marriage to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston (and about Jen and new boyfriend Justin Theroux?s responses)? If so, we must congratulate the star on a perfectly coordinated counterattack: If anything has the ability to push the Brad-Jen saga off the (metaphorical) front page, it?s Brad and Angelina?s gorgeous kids!
