LOOK AT THAT BODY: Janet Jackson's New Photoshoot!

Janet Jackson is showing off her ridiculously sexy body in a new photoshoot for BlackGlama.  The 45-year-old "Miss Jackson If You Nasty" is rolling into L.A. tonight to continue her "Number Ones" tour.  And these pics hit the net just in time.

Check 'em under the cut....

About the 2-year-in-a-row BlackGlama icon Janet Jackson, the CEO of BlackGama, the black-furred mink company said:

"It became clear in our discussions of who the Legend should be this year, that continuing the momentum with Janet made complete sense," says Joe Morelli, CEO of Blackglama. "She embodies glamour, luxury and sophistication, everything that Blackglama stands for."

Her fabulousness continues to reign.  HOT photos.

Here's the previously released behind the scenes video in case you missed it:

According to Wikipedia:

The Great Lakes Mink Association, GLMA, was formed by mink breeders in the Great Lakes region of the United States in 1941 who bred a black-furred mink which they characterize as "the richest, deepest, most lustrous dark mink with the lightest, most flexible leather", and trademarked it as Blackglama. GLMA and ALC have a long-running advertising campaign with the tagline "What becomes a legend most?", featuring a series of celebrities modeling their furs. The mark "Blackglama" is a play on the word "glamor" and the initialism "GLMA".

Blink-182, Death Cab For Cutie Remember 1991: When Rock Rocked

With Nevermind anniversary weeks away, music's biggest bands reflect on the other indispensible albums from a great year for rock.
By James Montgomery

My Bloody Valentine's <i>Loveless</i>
Photo: Sire

On September 24, Nirvana's epochal Nevermind album turns 20, a milestone that will be marked with much coverage, celebration and consternation in the media ... not to mention a sundry of other events, including a high-profile benefit concert at Seattle's Experience Music Project and a Jon Stewart-hosted Q&A with Nirvana's surviving members.

And understandably so. After all, Nevermind was a game-changer in every sense of the term — the kind of album that brought about seismic shifts in music, fashion and culture in general, one that defined a generation and, as such, deserves to be mythologized. And, in the coming weeks, we suspect you'll see no shortage of stories that do just that.

And while Nevermind casts an indelibly lengthy shadow, it bears mention that there was no shortage of other magical, massive and equally mythological albums that hit stores in 1991 ... ones that, had Nirvana never broken through, would probably be getting the royal treatment right now. In 1991, rock truly rocked, so, in celebration of that fact, we've asked some of today's biggest bands to discuss their favorite albums from that rather amazing year.

Don't worry, we'll give Nevermind its due ... but right now, we're paying tribute to 1991's other indispensible albums, in the words of their biggest fans.

Dinosaur Jr., Green Mind
Sludgy, somnambulant fourth album from Amherst, Massachusetts' premier purveyors of bad-posture rock, Green Mind represents Dino Jr. at a great divide: Not only is it their first album without original member Lou Barlow, it's also their first for major label Sire Records. Still, neither of those factors managed to sap its power, as mastermind J Mascis shouldered the load (it's basically a solo album) on tracks like the squalling "The Wagon" and the roiling "Puke & Cry." Of course, the band would later reconcile, but Green Mind still stands as a high-water mark, one that, from its iconic cover image to its shambolic moments of pure grandiosity, still stands the test of time.

As remembered by Mark Hoppus, Blink-182: "I got it when it came out and I just loved it, from the second that I listened to it. And I remember going to watch them at the Hollywood Palladium, and I think, actually, Nirvana opened that show maybe, or maybe not. [Editor's note: Nirvana did, in fact, open for Dino Jr. at the Palladium in June 1991.] But they played the Palladium, and it was the loudest show that I'd ever been to and my ears rang for three days afterwards and I was deathly afraid that I'd permanently ruined my hearing, which I probably did, but it was well worth it."

My Bloody Valentine, Loveless
The rare album that can be summarized entirely by its cover, MBV's Loveless is 48-odd minutes of guitars slowly corroding, collapsing and combusting into a gloriously woozy, decidedly pink hue. Then again, you should probably listen to it, if only to marvel at the sheer size of the thing: an epic sonic collage that echoes for days, full of ringing, winging chords, ruddy drum loops and ethereal, barely there vocals. It sounded like nothing else at the time and, really, that's still true today. Recorded in 19 different studios over the course of two years, it brought the band and its label, Creation, to the brink and was so huge an endeavor (in every regard) that, 20 years later, MBV have yet to record the follow-up. But that hasn't stopped an entire generation of musicians from taking cues from Kevin Shields' masterful din, most notably, the rather tricky art of learning how not to play guitar.

As remembered by Brian Oblivion, Cults: "In the same vein as Nevermind, Loveless is another game-changing album. There's that clichéd saying about the Velvet Underground, that they didn't have many fans, but all their fans started bands, and that's definitely the same thing with My Bloody Valentine. Like, every single one of my friends who heard that record immediately went out and bought a delay pedal and ... I'm not very good at guitar at this point in my life, and that's mostly because of My Bloody Valentine, because I'd just sit around in my basement and just make noise with loops and pedals and never learned how to actually play, like, 'Kevin Shields can't play, he's an artist.' To me, that album is all about texture, it's not about notes or melody or lyrics even ... the sound of a guitar became the sound of a cello, the sound of an orchestra, anything, and it kind of opened up the possibilities for everybody to do different kinds of music."

Slint, Spiderland
How is it possible that four kids from Louisville, Kentucky, could sound so preternaturally old? That's just one of the questions raised after listening to Spiderland, the second (and last) album from Slint, a band whose legacy far outweighs their actual output. A creaking, claustrophobic collection of songs that practically seethe tension (which sort of lends credence to the rumors that, following its recording, at least one member underwent psychiatric treatment), Spiderland crashes and coils in ways few other albums do: in a downright terrifying manner. Just give "Good Morning, Captain" a spin and try to say otherwise. And they looked like such nice young men on the cover.

As remembered by Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla, Death Cab for Cutie
Gibbard: "Kids, when they kind of get into music that they think is big and powerful and scary and loud, they gravitate towards hardcore, they gravitate towards punk rock, [because] to that point, that was the biggest, scariest, most aggressive kind of sounding thing that I had heard. But when I first heard Spiderland, it was the juxtaposition between the quiet and the loud that made it even a more powerful listening experience than listening to a hardcore band, because it was so quiet and it was so loud, and kind of feeling the dynamics between the loud and the quiet ... the scope between those things was really powerful."

Walla: "Spiderland is in a handful of records from the early '90s that are sort of recording-geek go-to's. And that was a record, for me, that was really a testament of how you can put together and structure a rock and roll recording in a way that didn't sound like Stone Temple Pilots. Rock and roll had gotten pretty big and pretty produced by that point and, for me, there were a handful of records that kids like me, who had a couple of microphones and an 8-track, sort of felt like, 'Oh, maybe I can do this and I should do this.' "

Opening up for the first time since his split became public, Marc Anthony sat down with ABC News to talk about his marriage to Jennifer Lopez and what really went wrong.

Breaking his silence, the 42-year-old singer told the network he'll "always love Jennifer" when questioned about his former wife of seven years.

He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children."

In Honor of 'Shark Night 3D', Here Are Our Favorite Fictional Sharks

Filed under:

Sharks! You know, as human beings, we just love them. "Man's best friend," I'm told. Or maybe that's dolphins. Or dogs. Actually, come to think of it, perhaps we don't like sharks at all. Never mind what I just said - we do not like sharks. Probably because they've been known, at times, to feed on us. And not in a symbiotic, intestinal bacteria type way. Regardless, there's a new movie about sharks coming out this weekend called 'Shark Night 3D' that you probably won't see, but you might. Since the studio behind 'Shark Night 3D' won't let us see the movie early, we thought, instead, we'd just make a list of our favorite fictional sharks. Here's is that list.

Minka Kelly Gets Back to Work After Breakup

Kicking off another work day, Minka Kelly was spotted on the set of her brand new ABC television program ?Charlie?s Angels? yesterday (August 30).

The ?Friday Night Lights? babe looked to be in good spirits as she filmed scenes with her co-stars Annie Ilonzeh and Rachel Taylor.

And it sounds like Minka just got a hunky new addition to her show- Isaiah Mustafa (Old Spice guy) will play Ray Goodson, a Miami PD detective.

Given her recent breakup with Derek Jeter, it?s good that Ms. Kelly has such a positive career to help distract her from feeling down.

Sexiest Woman of the Summer Tournament: Round 2

First off, thanks to everyone who voted in Round 1. Now let's take a look at the results ...

o. In the Superheroes' Girlfriends contest, Natalie Portman took down Blake Lively by a score of 65 percent to 35 percent. Sorry, Blake, but at least your margin of defeat here wasn't as wide as the Rotten Tomatoes scores for your respective movies ('Thor': 77 percent; 'Green Lantern': 27 percent).

o. In the battle of Brawn vs. Brains, it was Brawn, in the form of Zoe Saldana, overcoming Brains, Freida Pinto, 69-31. Freida can probably rest easy, though, as 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' opened with over $50 million and is all but guaranteed a sequel, while 'Colombiana' barely broke $10 million.

o. In our first Franchise contest, the Women of 'Transformers' absolutely demolished the Women of 'Final Destination,' 72-28, setting up a Clash of the Titans with the Women of 'X-Men.' Hard to find anything to help ease the pain the ladies of 'FD' are surely feeling, although there have been five 'Final Destination' flicks to only three 'Transformers' entries. Five is more than three -- a clear victory!

o. Finally, it was Rosario Dawson over Penelope Cruz in the closest contest of the first round, a score of 59-41. Not to worry, Penelope -- 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' only made about $900 million more than 'Zookeeper.'

Round 2 is when things get really fun -- our top seeds now enter the tournament, and they are some heavy hitters indeed:

Chris Brown's High-Flying VMA Set: Behind The Scenes

'Yeah 3X' singer's choreographers Rich and Tone talk to MTV News about pulling out 'tricks' like levitation on Sunday.

On Sunday night, Chris Brown nearly stole the show during his high-flying VMA performance, and considering everything that went down during the 2011 Video Music Awards, that's saying a lot.

Find out how Beyoncé and Jay-Z Celebrated Their VMA Baby News!

Brown, decked out in all white, danced to a medley of old favorites from acts like Wu-Tang Clan and Nirvana, as well as his own tracks "Yeah 3X" and "Beautiful People." The performance was packed with tight dance moves — including some ninja-style moves — and finished with Brown flying over the A-list crowd on nearly invisible wires. While hanging high above the room, the singer displayed moves that looked as acrobatic as a Cirque Du Soleil performer.

We spotted Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and more hanging out backstage!

Days before Brown took the stage, MTV News caught up with two members of his creative team, choreographers Tone and Rich. The pair had promised that Brown would take the game to the next level at this year's VMAs, and he certainly delivered on that.

"We've been working with Chris for many years; I've never seen him this way on this performance ever," Tone teased last week. "He's pulling out all his tricks on this one. He's definitely gonna show you something fresh and new; something he has never done before."

Go Behind the Scenes with Wiz Khalifa, Kreayshawn, more at VMA Pre-Show

He went on to add that while Brown always steps up his performance game, Sunday night would be unlike previous shows. "All the past performances he always came with it 100 percent, but this one, for some reason he has something special about this one," Tone said.

"He's going to create so much centrifugal force, there might be some levitation going on," Rich teased.

And although it was unclear what exactly Rich meant by that prediction a few days ago, now Brown's fans know he wasn't exaggerating.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards have wrapped, but the real action is just getting started! Stick with MTV News for winners, fashion pics, video and behind-the-scenes stories about everything that went down. Visit VMA.MTV.com for the latest.

Daniel Radcliffe's 'Woman In Black' Trailer: Seriously Creepy

'Harry Potter' vet's new horror-flick footage might be clichéd, but that doesn't mean it's not effective.
By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler

Daniel Radcliffe in "The Woman in Black"
Photo: Alliance Films

If the teaser trailer for Daniel Radcliffe's "The Woman in Black" surprised us in April with just how darn creepy it was (as opposed to the more thriller-driven supernatural story we were expecting), the new, full trailer has opened our eyes to the full, horror-heavy potential of the actor's first post-"Harry Potter" role.

Our eyes are open, sure, but they also closed, admittedly, once or six times, as we took in viewing after viewing of the footage in preparation for our latest trailer commentary. Hit "Play" on the video to watch along with us, and then read on for a deeper dive into the action, which begins with a seriously eerie silence.

From there, it must be said, the trailer incorporates a whole lot of familiar horror-movie tropes. The first is those creepy children. Not only do we get creepy kids, we get creepy kids delivering narration in rhymes. It might be clichéd, but that doesn't mean it's not effective. And it's good to see Radcliffe taking on material that truly forces him to step outside the Quidditch pitch.

Between "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway, then "The Woman in Black" and fare like "All Quiet on the Western Front," the 22-year-old actor isn't shying away from less-poppy projects. That's all part of his plan: different material, no break after his decade-long "Potter" run.

"If I had been taking some time off and not doing stuff, I think the temptation in terms of the media and the public, to a certain extent, is [that] if you don't hear from a child star for a while, you can kind of condemn them to the been-and-gone pile," Radcliffe told MTV News in the spring. "I wanted to make sure that didn't happen."

We haven't, however, gotten to see much of his creative range in any of the "Woman in Black" trailers. What we have seen is that he's excellent at staring at things. In the new footage, he stares from carriages, out windows, in mansions, and just kind of longingly off into the distance. Perhaps Radcliffe has been taking some lessons from Derek Zoolander. Hey, if he can just stare at things for the next 20 years, he's guaranteed a career.

Halfway through the trailer, we find ourselves facing another horror movie cliché: bloody writing on the wall. Listen up, people! If you ever find bloody writing on a wall, get the hell out of there! If this moment occurs, say, 20 minutes into the movie, the entire thing should be 25 minutes long, with the last five minutes devoted to a single uncut shot of Radcliffe fleeing as fast as his little legs will take him.

Yet this literal writing-on-the-wall gives us the biggest — or, really, the only — peek into the film's plot, which the trailer, to its credit, doesn't deeply explore. Here's what we already know: Based on a 1983 novel by Susan Hill, the story follows Radcliffe's Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer dispatched to sort out a recently deceased client's affairs, only to discover the nearby town is haunted by the ghost of a scorned woman. So does the bloody writing relate to the past, scorn-producing events? To someone speaking from beyond the grave? Possibly to Radcliffe himself?

There are many different ways to interpret it. Many interpretations, yes, but only one conclusion: Run, Harry, run! But run, clearly, he does not do soon enough, as the trailer ends with Radcliffe coming dangerously close to a demonic-looking woman. Is this the woman in black? Well, it's a woman and she's wearing black. And she has those blacked-out eyes, a nod to a photo earlier in the trailer, featuring a family with scratched-out eyes. So, for now, we'll keep an open mind on everything except this: "Woman in Black" looks pretty damn scary.

Now, we'll open our eyes. Please excuse us while we go throw up.

Check out everything we've got on "The Woman in Black."

Kim Kardashian's 'Jam' Video Leaks Online

Leaked portion finds newly married reality star flaunting her famous assets.
By Gil Kaufman

Kim Kardashian
Photo: Getty Images

There are a few things Kim Kardashian is known for: her near-ubiquitous reality TV presence, her recent lavish wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries ... and for the rest, you just need to watch the first 54 seconds of the upcoming video for her debut single, "Jam (Turn It Up)."

The opening of the Hype Williams-directed clip showed up on Perez Hilton's site on Monday, and it's pretty much what you might expect. The first image you see is Kardashian lying on the floor covered in sweat, or oil, as her name scrolls by in giant pink neon letters that fill the frame.

Once the thumping disco beat produced by The-Dream kicks in, we are treated to an up-close-and-personal shot of the other thing Kardashian is best known for: her rear. As she crawls across the wet floor, the camera zooms in on Kardashian's assets, sheathed in barely-there pink leather booty shorts. The beat keeps pumping as Kardashian slithers toward a giant spinning exhaust fan.

Her face and hair dripping with greasy moisture, Kardashian mouths, "Turn me up, turn me up, turn me, turn me, turn me up," while nearly subliminal still images of her tongue rolling over heavily made-up red lips pulse on the screen. And those are pretty much the only lyrics we hear, accompanied by more images of a dewy Kim K. rolling around on the floor and touching her hair.

Near the end of the clip she explains, "I'm goin' out tonight/ It's going down/ Headed straight to the front of the line," while conveniently rolling onto her back to give us a peek down her barely hanging-on dirty wifebeater to show off her other most famous lady parts. Kardashian debuted the song back in March on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, while also tweeting out some stills from the shoot, but she has not yet announced when her debut album will be released.

Kim Kardashian?s Wedding Gowns ? For Less!

kimdresss1_wide.jpg
Okay, so we can?t all have million-dollar weddings like Kim Kardashian's, let alone wear three different wedding dresses. Nor can we afford to fly back and forth across the country just for fittings, like Kim did. Thankfully, Vera Wang, who designed Kim?s trilogy of gowns, has made remarkable look-alike dresses for David?s Bridal. The best part is that these are not ?knockoffs,? because Vera herself created them!

Vera, who was a guest at Kim's wedding to Kris Humphries on August 20, described the bride as ?radiant and beautiful.? So she kept that in mind when she designed this $1,200 White by Vera Wang tulle ball gown with an embroidered bodice inspired by Kim?s first dress.

Kim?s second and ?favorite? look of the night was a mermaid gown with lace appliqus. Vera shows that same sexy silhouette and similar attention to detail with this $1,000 look.

"Mrs. Humphries" ended the night with an Old Hollywood bias-cut creation, much like this elegant number, complete with a chapel train.

Who says we can?t all look like a star?

'Dark Knight Rises' Director Is 'Genius,' Tom Hardy Says

'I just trust him and how he slowly feeds what he's about to do to the world,' Bane actor says of Christopher Nolan's 'enigmatic' methods.
By Kara Warner

The only problem with Christopher Nolan's hugely anticipated "The Dark Knight Rises" is that no one involved in the project can talk about it, and with such secrecy comes obsessive fanboy quests for spoilers and on-set footage and photos.

When MTV News caught up with "Rises" star Tom Hardy as he promoted another of his anticipated films, "Warrior," we asked what he thinks about the incessant quests for details about his character Bane and the rest of the film.

"I think it just shows that people are really into it. It's great," Hardy said. "If you love something, why not follow it?"

He added that he doesn't much care for those who seek out spoilers, however, and also hasn't paid much attention to the photos that have been released, official or not.

"There are photos out there; it's nice to see them," he said, before changing the direction of the conversation toward more general territory. "Chris Nolan is amazing. How he releases his films, he's a very enigmatic human being. It's genius, what he does, and I just trust him and how he slowly feeds what he's about to do to the world."

Speaking of one of the things Nolan and company have fed to the world, we asked for his reaction to Anne Hathaway's catsuit.

"I've seen it, obviously. I've seen it up front," he said, not willing to expand on the subject. "I think everything Chris Nolan and every person at Warner Bros. [does] is amazing," he continued with a cheeky smile. "As I do Lionsgate as well [the studio releasing 'Warrior']. Funny, isn't it?" he said when his "Warrior" co-star Joel Edgerton burst out laughing at Hardy's politically correct outpourings of love for everyone. "Mercenary of me," he joked, proud to be toeing the company line. "Ka-ching!"

Matthew Fox Arrested for Assault, Brad Pitt Hailed as a Hero on 'World War Z' Set

(UPDATED) Two big names on location, two very different stories to report:

'Lost' fans will not be happy to hear that Matthew Fox, who played heroic (but hotheaded) Dr. Jack Shephard, has just been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman. Fox, who is in Cleveland filming 'I, Alex Cross,' was arrested early Monday morning after reportedly punching a female bus driver in the chest and stomach after she refused to let him board a private bus. The driver told TMZ the actor was drunk and that she had to punch him back in "self-defense."

Meanwhile, over the weekend, Pitt was praised for his heroics in coming to an extra's aid on the 'World War Z' set when she fell while filming a crowd scene. According to local reports, a group of over 700 extras was filming a scene in Glasgow's George Square, which involved a mad rush to escape a zombie attack. A woman who fell was in danger of being trampled, until Pitt lifted her to her feet and saved her. The woman suffered only a grazed knee.

'Conan The Barbarian': The Reviews Are In!

While critics prefer the remake to Arnold Schwarzenegger's original, reviews aren't glowing.
By Terri Schwartz

Jason Momoa in "Conan the Barbarian"
Photo: Lionsgate Entertainment

"Conan the Barbarian" isn't trying to pull any punches. From the beginning, the remake of the 1982 cult classic proclaims that its lead lives, loves, slays and is content. And critics are saying that's exactly what you get in theaters.

Reviews haven't necessarily been positive, with critics complaining about the script and the one-dimensional characters. But they seem to agree that Jason Momoa did a better job in the title role than Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the movie is fun — at least as a mindless summer blockbuster. It might not be worth spending the extra money to see the flick in 3-D, but the fighting is good and gory if that's what fans are looking for.

But don't let us tell you what to think. Before you head to theaters to watch "Conan the Barbarian," find out what the critics thought of "Conan the Barbarian" in our review round-up:

The Script
"With a script so pat and humor-free, Momoa has little to do but sneer and slice. The film informs us that Conan has the heart of a lion and 'the loyalty of a bloodhound,' but we get nary a sniff of that in this carnage fest. He's built like a tank, but Conan emotes like one, too." — Scott Bowles, USA Today

The Effects
"This 'Conan' plods along, regularly erupting in action scenes that make scant visual sense in two dimensions and none at all in 3-D. The few that stick out involve supernatural beasties; there's one ferocious battle against warriors made of sand that combines athletic parkour and digital effects to surprisingly exciting ends. Other than that, it's tame stuff, and there's little sense of the larger mythical stage the hero strides across." — Ty Burr, The Boston Globe

The Remake
"The original 'Conan' was a sloppy, grandiose, unforgivable muckbath directed by the (I say the words lovingly) right-wing maniac John Milius. I watched it about four times to make sure it had no redeeming qualities. The reboot (re-sandal?) isn't good either, exactly. But it has a certain commitment to its cause, and by that I mean it supplies the necessary flayings, slayings, beheadings and, um, a be-nose-ing, all of it dancing to the tune of those amusingly stilted He-Man declaratives — King James Bible cadences applied to comic-book visions. It knows it's a B movie, and gets on with it." — Kyle Smith, The New York Post

The Schwarzenegger Connection
"In this dank ultimate-fighting challenge, Jason Momoa as Conan provides the only visual vivacity; he has an eye-catchingly sensuous face atop the requisite statuesque beefcake. Much more than Schwarzenegger in his early Teutonic-slab phase, Momoa nicely fulfills the law of Hollywood Darwinism: survival of the dishiest. Such is his sex appeal that he almost brings plausibility to the movie's silliest scene, when Conan tells Tamara, 'I live, I love, I slay, and I am content,' and the virgin instantly falls into his arms. Guys bringing their dates to this murky holocaust are advised not to try using Conan's credo as a pickup line." — Richard Corliss, Time

The Final Word
" 'Conan the Barbarian,' starring the excellent rippling chisel of Jason Momoa, is brutal, bloody beyond belief, and has no socially redeeming value. So it is with a certain amount of guilt that I say it's kind of a wicked blast to watch, especially if you're in the mood for some righteous revenge." — Betsy Sharkey, The Los Angeles Times

Britney Spears Calls VMA Tribute 'An Honor'

Spears tells MTV News her onstage smooch with Lady Gaga's Jo Calderone wasn't planned.

Britney Spears played it humble during her Video Music Awards tribute -- using her time onstage to shine the spotlight on her fellow performer, Beyoncé -- not an easy feat to accomplish in between nabbing the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and getting kissed by Lady Gaga's male alter ego Jo Calderone.

When MTV News caught up with Spears minutes after stepping offstage, she stayed humble, calling the tribute "an honor" and once again deflecting the spotlight.

"It was really crazy. I had no idea what to expect," Spears said. "The kids were amazing and so entertaining, and it was a really fun night. It was really cool. I was like, 'Wow, that's really sweet!'

"I loved the little girl in the 'Slave' outfit," she continued. "She was just so tiny and she delivered and she had such a great performance. ... They were all so great, and you could tell they worked really hard."

And Spears didn't stop there either. For an artist who's won more than her fare share of VMAs in her career, she was blown away by Sunday night's Best Pop Video triumph. "Every year ... just to come here is such an honor, you never get used to it," she smiled. "But tonight means so much to me." In a night full of high-water moments, it was her tribute smooch from Gaga -- er, Calderone -- that she gushed about backstage. Especially because she said the kiss was totally unplanned.

"She was in full character!" Spears said. "We just got onstage and we just kind of felt it out; we didn't know what was going on, so it was interesting!"

'Hunger Games' Director Unpacks VMA Footage

Gary Ross says Jennifer Lawrence will help him give viewers the same 'visceral experience' as the books.
By Eric Ditzian

While the "Hunger Games" teaser trailer lit up the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, director Gary Ross was back in North Carolina, his head space not so much occupied with Lady Gaga in drag and Lil Wayne's long dreads as it was with Katniss Everdeen and the dystopian nation called Panem.

Ross is still in the midst of shooting his adaptation of "The Hunger Games," but last week, with the teaser set to debut at the VMAs, he took the time to touch base with MTV News via Skype to give us his exclusive commentary about the footage.

Katniss Vision
Suzanne Collins' novel is a first-person tale, and it's clear from the teaser Ross is striving to capture that same sort of immediate access into Katniss' head. "I think one of the most important things when you adapt a book like this is to give people the experience they really had when they read it — the same kind of visceral experience they had," he explained. "I think [the reason] everybody felt so strongly in what Suzanne did was that they were with this character, they understood her, they were in her shoes, they were in her head. It was such an intense first-person experience. My job in making a film is first and foremost to reflect that.

"How do we get inside Katniss' head? How do we feel what she's feeling? How do we become her?" Ross continued. "The first thing that allows you to do that is Jennifer Lawrence, because she's such an unbelievable actor. She has so much depth and power and talent and sophistication and sensitivity and subtly that she's become Katniss Everdeen synonymously. I hope people feel about Jen and Katniss at the end of this three-book cycle the way they feel about Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter — that they've become very, synonymous with one another."

Get "Hunger Games" experts' analysis of the teaser.

Gale's Voiceover
That voiceover you hear during the trailer? That's Katniss' District 12 pal Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). And Ross has a very specific idea in mind about the importance of making Gale a part of this initial footage (and not Katniss' Hunger Games companion, Peeta Mellark).

"As everyone knows, Gale is an enormous part of Katniss' life, but he's not as big a part of the first book as he is the subsequent books," the director told us. "I think he's very, very present and he's tremendously important, but of course we shift into the Capitol and then the arena, where Peeta ends up playing a more prominent role. But he's in her head, he's in her life, he's something that echoes with her throughout the games, as any reader of the book knows, so he plays an obviously prominent role."

The Difficulty of the Shoot
Though Ross and his team didn't have to contend with giant fireballs in the woods, as Katniss does in the first look, the filmmaker revealed that the set in the North Carolina forest posed quite a challenge to the production. "This was like shooting in Vietnam," he said. "I felt like I was making 'Apocalypse Now.' The thing was so rigorous. We spent something like six weeks outside in the jungle every day, hiking up and down mountains with cameras and in the mud and in driving rain storms. We all felt it, but nobody felt it as much as Jen did. It's been an intense physical experience for her."

Just Getting Started
While Ross was proud to show off this initial footage, he told us this is only the beginning and that there are a few scenes and characters in particular that he can't wait for people to see in the future. "We're still shooting, so unfortunately, it's just a teaser," he said. "We could only give you a little bit, because we're still down here making the movie. I've got to leave in half an hour and shoot. But there's a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful. I think that we've done wonderful things with the mutts. I think that we've done a tremendous job bringing the Capitol to life, and I think that's going to be really, really exciting for people to see. And all the performances! Wait till you see Stanley Tucci do Caesar Flickerman."

It's For Real This Time?! BEYONCE IS PREGNANT!

That's definitely a baby bump on Beyonce KnowlesWe're still in such disbelief we're wondering if this is all part of a bigger act.  No act here--this is the real deal.  But Mrs. Knowles Carter hit the black carpet of tonight's MTV VMAs in this flowing long red dress.  And apparently, confirmed to MTV and the paparazzi that she's about to drop Baby Knowles Carter.

Deets inside...

MTV tweeted the first pic of 29-year-old Beyonce' tonight from their black carpet. She was holding her belly which is undeniably a large baby bump.  And, despite the fact Bey only posed for a few media outlets then rushed inside, she apparently announced to them SHE'S PREGNANT.  A member of the paparazzi also tweeted that Bey confirmed it to them as well.

Announcing her pregnancy at an Awards Show isn't what we expected. But she did say she would never get pregnant and use it for publicity--so going the nonchalant announcement way is fitting (and typical) for their relationship.  I guess we just didn't notice a bump during her 4 nights of "4" concerts a couple weeks ago when she was wearing a short and tight gold mini--made by Mama Tina.  That slit at the top of her tummy was some major eye trickery....

Well I'll be....  This is the first child for Beyonce & Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter

Bey is set to perform tonight.  We'll see what happens...

Sidenote: We asked ourselves the other day why that "1+1" video seemed like mainly only face shots and only a couple blurred out lingerie full body shots.  She shot the vids just a few weeks ago.  Hmmm....

Congrats! Let the sh*tstorm ensue...

Katy Perry Reveals Why She Married Russell and Talks Her Firework Win Backstage at VMAs

It was a winning night for Katy Perry, who tied with Adele for the most moonmen this evening at the VMAs -check out the full list of VMA winners on Buzz! The pop star stopped by the press room after the show wrapped to talk about the honor and the tribute her husband, Russell Brand, gave to the late Amy Winehouse during the show. Katy changed out of the pop-art-inspired outfit she wore to accept her video of the year award for "Firework," and into a sparkly black minidress with a fascinator that looked like a record, before chatting backstage. She said:

  • On why her "Firework" win is special: "I was in shock, because there's a lot of other really great people in that category, especially Adele - who I love - [and] who's deserving of every nomination. But I felt like I was in the right place tonight, especially with that award, because we all know 'California Girls' is a great song, but it's not going to change the world or anything like that. But 'Firework,' to me, feels like a movement?I think it takes a little bit more to sing a song like 'Firework.'"
  • On Russell's tribute to Amy: "I'm proud of him-whatever comes out of his mouth. And sometimes it's very colorful, right? But I think he was right on. I think, not only was he providing the beautiful color palette that Amy was, but he was also providing a realistic point of view as well, and giving hope to anyone out there who felt like they needed hope? That's why I married him, because he's smart, and I learn a lot!"
  • On how she felt about her many wins tonight: "I don't want to feel like I've peaked just yet, I've got way too many outfits to go through."
  • On what inspired her VMA outfits: "I'm all right with being laughed at, and being laughed with, and just laughing, so that was the inspiration for tonight, which was to have a laugh."
